What is psychoanalytic
psychotherapy?
Psychoanalytic
psychotherapy is an individual therapy that does not work to a programme, but
deals with what the client chooses to
bring to each session.
It is most suited to
problems that have existed for some time or
have roots or connections with things that have happened in a person's early life.
It is a long-term psychotherapy
and you need to assume you might need to
attend for at least a year in order to gain
significant benefits.
The first meeting is an
assessment session to look at your
problems, and make a decision together about whether this form of therapy is right for you and, if so,
whether you wish to go ahead with
regular sessions.
If your difficulties
require another kind of help we will try to suggest how you might obtain this.
Sessions are usually fifty
minutes in duration and normally take
place on a weekly basis, but appointments can be two or three times a week
where needed.
